Google Slides and FigJam to research the Haudenosaunee collaboratively

Google Slides allows teachers and students to set tasks, organize information, record research and responses to inquiry questions… and to share and work collaboratively. Figjam provides a similar space, with extreme zoom capabilities, where everyone can review and comment on each other’s work.

This SocSci Techtip demonstrates how a collaborative slide deck and a zoomable space can be combined to help students examine a large work of art, broadside or infographic, which in turn offers collaborative spaces where they can see and share their work.

Pedagogical intention:

Students characterize a period covered in the History of Québec and Canada Program. Through research perform intellectual operations like establish facts, situate in space & time, establish connections between facts, and determine causes & consequences.
