Deconfessionalization of Schools for First Nations in Quebec from 1900 to 1980

In this activity, students will learn more about the church’s role in education and the history of residential schools in Québec. They will analyze documents, including the testimonials of Residential School Survivors. The accompanying teacher’s guide includes resources and strategies for pre-teaching to support mental health throughout learning. A learning activity includes a teacher activity guide, a student workbook and accompanying documents. This learning activity is centred around the guiding question: How did deconfessionalization change in First Nations education?

To support educators with teaching concepts of Quebec Society between 1900 and 1980.
