Parks Canada presents: The Acadians in Restigouche

A network activity carried out in collaboration with Parks Canada: The Acadians in Restigouche. The intended audience is Elementary Cycle 3 (Grades 5-6).

This interclass activity takes you to the heart of the final naval battle between France and Great Britain.

Who are the Acadians of the Restigouche region of Gaspésie? Where do they come from? What hardships did these brave people have to overcome? And, above all, what were they doing during the last naval confrontation between France and Great Britain in July 1760?

The National Historic Site’s experts will answer these questions and more as they describe the Battle of the Restigouche. During this virtual encounter, participating classes will discover resilient people who played a key role in an event that sealed the fate of New France forever!

This interclass activity lasts 30 minutes, followed by a 15-minute question period.
