Parks Canada presents Lachine Canal, Cradle of Industrialization

This network activity, Lachine Canal, Cradle of Industrialization, is being hosted by LEARN in collaboration with Parks Canada. The intended audience for this session is Cycle 3 (Grades 5 & 6) Elementary students.
Called “Smokey Valley” by contemporaries of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, explore the rich history of the Lachine Canal with Parks Canada. A true cradle of industrialization in Canada, this key waterway played a major role in the urbanization and economic life of Montreal until its closure in the late 1950s.
